The Lost Words

We start the new term with The Lost Words week. We will be using this wonderful book as a stimulus for our writing and science work.

Class Trip to RSPB Radipole Lake and Weymouth Beach

On June 13th we are going on our school trip - details to follow

In Literacy we are going to be writing an adventure story, poetry and explanation texts based on our History topic - History of Farming.
In Maths, we are going to consolidate our learning from the year. We will be revisiting topics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as doing some further learning about patterns and positions.

Please continue to read regularly. Children make the most progress when they read little and often. 5 minutes a day is more beneficial than 20 minutes twice a week. Please do also continue to ask your child questions about the text - some of the books have comprehension questions on the back page. You could ask questions linked to how a character is feeling, why they did something specific, how do you know ...?

In Science, we are going to investigate what seeds need to germinate and grow successfully. The children all know that plants need sunlight, water, soil to grow but what happens if we take one of these away? Will the seeds germinate? Will it grow? Will it continue to grow (thrive)?
