Science week home learning task

Foxes Class Homework

The children take home a piece of maths homework on a Wednesday. We would like it to be back in school the following Tuesday.

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday with a spelling test on the following Friday. Please practise these as often as possible.

We would also like the children to read at home as often as they can.

Children who read three times or more at home in the week, will be able to move their photo up to the top of the reading thermometer. Please make sure you tick / sign the journal each time they read so we can award them their next place on the tower. We aim to change the reading books daily. Once a week children can also visit the school library and choose a book. Please read and share this with your child and ensure it is returned weekly. is a fun way to practise your child's reading. Free to use on a computer or you can purchase it through the app store.

We are following the Phase 5 Letters and Sounds programme. We use phonics play a lot - here is the website

As you may be aware, children will undertake a Phonics Screening the Summer Term 2020. You will receive further information about this in the Spring Term. Please click on the link below for further information.

Children will need to practise their phonics as much as possible at home. Please encourage children to sound out and word e.g. s n ake and blend it together to read it - snake. The phonics screening test uses alien words (made up words e.g. blorg) as this really tests their phonic knowledge and doesn't allow them to guess. is a fun way to practise the sounds we have been learning in class. has lots of fun games and activities that your child could access at home.

Children will undertake the Phonic Screening Test in June 2020.

There is a Parents Guide on the Introduction page on Foxes website.
