The children take home 1-2 pieces of home learning on a Wednesday. We would like it to be back in school the following Wednesday.
Home learning will continue to focus on our maths topics and spellings related to our phonics. We would also like the children to read at home as often as they can. Children who read three times or more at home in the week, collect an egg for their bird nest. The top three children who have read the most in the spring term, receive a 'Book Worm' certificate. Please make sure you tick / sign the journal each time they read so we can award eggs.
We are following the Phase 5 Letters and Sounds programme. We use phonics play a lot - here is the website www.phonicsplay.co.uk

As you may be aware, children will undertake a Phonics Screening the Summer Term. You will receive further information about this in the Spring Term. Please click on the link below for further information. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/phonics-screening-check-administration
Children will need to practise their phonics as much as possible at home. Please encourage children to sound out and word e.g. s n ake and blend it together to read it - snake. The phonics screening test uses alien words (made up words e.g. blorg) as this really tests their phonic knowledge and doesn't allow them to guess.
Please use the Sound Families sheet to practise the Phase 5 sounds.
Children will undertake the Phonic Screening Test in June 2018.

There is a Parents Guide on the Introduction page on Foxes website.
