Stalbridge Church of England Primary School

October 2012

15th October 2012

Hello Everyone

Here's some new dates and information to take us through to the end of this busy first half term.

Harvest Festival
On Thursday 18th October we are holding our Harvest Festival at the church at 9.10am. We'd like you to join us. At harvest time we celebrate and give thanks for the food grown on the land and think about those who sometimes do not have enough food or cannot afford to eat well. We'd like each child to make a donation of food for our Harvest Festival which will be given to the North Dorset Women's Refuge. If children could bring their donations along on Wednesday 17th October we will take them up to the church for display on Thursday.

The photographer is at the school on Tuesday 23rd October for individual photos and sibling groups. If you require a family photograph the photographer is in school this Saturday morning, for an appointment contact the school office.

Parents Evenings
Our parent consultations this term are on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th October. To sign up for an appointment with your child's teacher visit the board outside the reception classroom.

Staff Development Day
Please remember that Friday 26th October is a staff development day and the school is closed to children.

In the week beginning 22nd October (next week) only the following after school clubs will run: Jazzercise, Simply Football, Sewing and Dodgeball.

Mrs Padfield and Mrs Silk
Mrs Padfield is returning from maternity leave on 3rd November. Mrs Padfield will teach Monday and Tuesday in Year 1 and Wednesday in Year 3. Mrs Johnson will then teach small groups on a Wednesday.

We would like to thank Mrs Silk for her work in Year 1 covering maternity.

Mr Fieldhouse
Mr Fieldhouse is leaving us this week. John has been fantastic for the school. He has always given time and effort over and above his job description. Every teacher and pupil has benefitted from John's work. We wish him well.

It is often unavoidable not to pass on viruses and bugs but we must try to do as much as we can to prevent illness from spreading. If your child is ill with colds or flu symptoms please keep them at home until they are over the worst. If your child has had a stomach upset we would appreciate it if they have 48 hours to recover from it before they return to school.

Bedtime Stories, Book fair
Thank you to those who bought books at our book fair, attended our Bedtime Stories Evening and dressed up for our Book Day. £577 was raised towards buying books for our classrooms.

Half Term
The half term holiday is from Friday 26th October (Inset day) to Friday 2nd November.

Yours sincerely

Mr M Allen
