June 2011 letters

13th June 2011

Dear Year 6 Parents

On Friday 8th July Year 6 pupils have been invited to an ICT morning at Sturminster Newton High School, with their fellow Year 6s from the pyramid schools.

The trip will be within school times. Pupils will need to have a late lunch back at school and hot school meals will not be available so everyone will need a packed lunch that day.

There will be no cost for this trip.

Yours sincerely

Mr A McAney
Year 6 teacher

Dear Parents/Carers

We have been fortunate to secure free tickets to a schools concert with the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Lighthouse, Poole on Tuesday 5th July.

With the full BSO on stage, composer Paul Rissmann will present the hour-long concert titled Heroes and Legends. The children will be learning a song with actions to join in with the orchestra at the end of the concert.

The concert is open to Years 4, 5 and 6 children. We have been given enough tickets to fill one coach (approx 50 spaces). The only cost of the trip will be the coach travel which we have been able to keep to £5.

We intend to make it an enjoyable day. We will leave at 11.15am and go to Poole Park to have a picnic lunch and a play. We will then walk to the Lighthouse Arts Centre, enjoy the performance and return from there back to school for approximately 3.30pm.

This trip is on a 'first come first served' basis. We would like a reply from you by Monday 20th June. We need to fill the coach and any spare places will then be offered to other years in the school.

Yours sincerely

Miss E Gould
Music Co-ordinator

Sporting Challenge Day SNHS - 6th July 2011

Year 5 and Year 6 children have been invited along to Sturminster Newton High School for a Sporting Challenge Day. This will be a great day of varied fun activities which will test the children's teamwork and abilities.

Children will start and end their school day as normal here at school. Coaches will take the children to the high school. Children will need to bring a disposable packed lunch and a drinks bottle. Children will need to wear their PE kit and footwear suitable for sport and wear their school sweatshirt/cardigan to enable quick identification, a hat and suncream may also be appropriate as would a towel - one of the activities involves water!

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Year 4 trip to Montacute House - Monday 20th June

The children in Year 4 will be visiting Montacute House on Monday 20th June. The trip will be within the normal school hours of 9am to 3.15pm, although we may be a little late back.

During the visit pupils will have opportunities to take part in guided activities, which will recreate aspects of Tudor life.

Children should wear a school sweatshirt on top of their own clothes. Please ensure your child has a waterproof coat and suitable walking footwear as we will be spending the afternoon in the garden. Please be aware the gardens may be very muddy so it is important that children wear trousers, shoes or trainers that can get dirty.

Packed lunch including a drink will need to be in a named carrier bag. A named drink and snack is also required for when we arrive. Please place in a small backpack. There is no need to send children with any money as we will not have the opportunity to visit the shop.

If your child requires a travel tablet, please administer before coming to school. If your child has an inhaler at school it will be taken by the adult of the group.

Due to the fantastic fundraising for the sponsored swim and events throughout the school year the cost of the trip has been covered.

Yours sincerely,

K Swaine
Year 4 teacher
