Sports at Stalbridge

Our Year 5/6 swimmers are in action on Friday 4th March at our swimming gala.Footballers are busy too with KS2 matches at Child Okeford. Good luck everyone.
Children's Mental Health Week
We had a good day learning about children's mental health. We have introduced
a playtime Time 2 Talk drop in for all children every Monday and Wednesday
playtime with our ELSA staff. Sharing a worry can really help children to feel
well and enjoy their school day.
Sport Relief - 18th March
This year, the school council have decided to hold a school 'Tryathlon'. This will be a chance for all
children to try a variety of sporting challenges. The children have chosen to organise
this to keep the activity as inclusive as possible. Children are asked to bring £2 and
dress up as a sporting person who inspires them.
Learning Behaviour and School Behaviours
We are in the process of updating our Behaviour for Learning Policy, in line with new national guidance. Information will follow.
This term we are focussing on the learning behaviour 'chameleon - ability to change'. It helps us with our writing, problem solving and behaviour. We are praising our pupil's ability to change their behaviour with an extra reward, starting this half term.
- For those children who have made a big effort to change, they will receive a chameleon certificate.
- For those who have reduced the number of times they have been on our steps (behaviour tool) - silver award.
- For those who've made exceptional efforts (hardly any steps) they will receive a golden ticket and an invite to a well done tea party in my office. They will also automatically become a school ambassador, leading school visitors on tours, helping lead events and helping others to improve.
Everyone can achieve and we will celebrate and support all children.
Very soon, our swimming pool will be open. We rely on our parent helpers to support us in helping children to change for swimming. If you can help please let us know as soon as
possible. You will need to have a disclosure and barring service check and be
provided with health and safety information. Ask at the office for more details.
Easter Eggs and Services at church
Our Easter egg competition has been launched again. Look out for the posters. Our church services run every other Thursday. Our Easter service is on the last day of term, Thursday

Careers Fair , Year 6 - Wednesday 23rd March
Mrs Cuff has arranged an exciting careers fair on the above date. We want to inspire our oldest children to think about their future and link this to their school learning. We have lots of community partners here at school on that day. All year 6 parents/carers are invited to attend, with their children, here at school on that day, from 2pm.
Thank you for signing your children up to our clubs. If, for any reason, your child is not able to attend, you must ring the office so that registers can be amended.
Inhalers and Medicines
If your child uses an inhaler regularly; please would you check the date and ensure there is ample supply for the term. If you need to administer prescribed medicines, pop into the school office, where you will be given paperwork to complete.

Congratulations to Mrs Squires, who got married over the February half term. She is now Mrs Jeal. At the end of this half term, she will be leaving us to spend more time taking part in her other career. She has worked at our school for many years and will be missed. I am sure you will join me in wishing her well for the future.
