Ofsted Inspection
We had a one day inspection last term and the feedback is attached. We are very pleased to share that Ofsted have continued to grade us as a GOOD school. These inspections provide a 'letter' as feedback, which I have attached. We are very proud of our school and all the achievements of the children and staff here.

E-safety for Pupils
The Dorset Safer Schools team from Dorset Police will be delivering E-safety lessons to all children on Wednesday. They will learn how to keep safe online and be given age appropriate presentations as well as an opportunity to discuss use of the internet at home. There are lots of useful resources for parents at

We are looking forward to starting our clubs next week. Please do let us know if your child will be absent from the clubs as we take a register for each session. The Athletics club has been fully funded from our Sports Premium grant this term.

White Hart Link Way
Our Eco Council represented the school on Thursday during the launch of the White Hart Link Way with Jan Wardell and the local Ramblers. We took it in turns to label the way markers and walked a stretch of the path. We met with many member of our community including Cllr Graham Carr-Jones, Cllr Pauline Batstone and Cannon Ridding. We were presented with a special nest box and some wild flowers for planting. The school will monitor part of the way, noting any areas that need tidying up or fixing. We will be making more use of this walk way to learn about and encourage wildlife too.

Could you help with swimming this year? We need people to help with the changing and organising of groups. We also need willing volunteers to be in the water when Otters class are swimming. Please complete the slip on the letter attached and return it to the office, or give us a call.

Pupil Premium
Are you in receipt of government benefits? If so, your child may be entitled to Pupil Premium, which funds several educational activities in school which will benefit your child. These include additional support and challenge, help with the cost of trips, musical tuition and clubs. We also contribute from this fund for After school club and Breakfast clubs. If you think you might qualify, please visit

Girls Football
Good luck to a team of KS2 girls, who are taking part in a girls' football tournament at
St Nicholas Primary School, Child Okeford next Thursday.

Nature Area Refurbishment and Bird Food
Thank you very much to Mr Spicer, who has removed our old fencing at the bottom of our field. The new fence secures our lovely ducks and the nature pond. Thank you for giving your time and materials freely for this important work and thanks to Stalbridge Timber Supplies for supplying the fence posts. Thank you very much also to Mrs Williams, who made some bird feeders for our school.

Play Equipment Safety Rules
I must remind you that, if you wish to use our play equipment after school, you must follow the age restriction guidance on the notices and closely supervise your child. These help everyone to stay safe and prevent accidents.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Marathon Success
Well done to our parent and governor, Jon Turner for completing the London Marathon on Sunday. He ran the course in an amazing time and we can't wait for you to come in to school and share your medal with us!

That's all our news for this week.

Kind regards
Sarah Lafferty-Jenkins
