Animal Agents Reading Challenge -Six books
Christine Peters came into school today to share this year's summer reading challenge. We encourage everyone to take part. All the children will be bringing home a leaflet. Here's a link to the local library for opening hours;

Reading has been a big school development focus for us this year. We hope that many children will be inspired to read over the summer holidays.

PTA Family Fun Swimming Sessions
Thank you very much to everyone who has supported our Wednesday swimming sessions. Miss Elsworth, Mrs Pitman and her PTA team have worked really hard to make sure that these sessions can run well. Look out for more swimming sessions over the next few weeks.

Sports Day Thursday 13th July 2017
It was very unfortunate that bad weather and a very wet field caused the sports day to be postponed. We hope to run it on the above date. It was difficult to choose an alternative date due to classes going out on school trips. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
All plans and timings aim be the same:-
Key stage 1 (Reception, Years 1 & 2) 10.30am - 12.00pm
Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) 1.15pm- 3.00pm
PTA Summer Fayre
This will start at 3.15 straight after the KS2 sports day. Please do stay for some games and refreshments. Clubs will not run on this day.

Year 4 Step Up Day
The Year 4 class had a really good day at Sturminster Newton High School on Wednesday. They took part in sports, food technology and ICT. Mr Barnett and Mrs Bailey are proud of the children's curiosity and great learning behaviour. Well done.

Open Afternoon Wednesday 19th July 2.30pm- 3.10pm
We welcome you on the above date to visit the school. You can collect your child/ren, visit their next class, tour the school and look at their work and see the teachers. The children need to be back to their own class by 3.10pm for end of day routines. Please note that most books will be going up with the children to their next class, rather than being sent home at the end of the year.

Thought for the week
Every week, we have a special focus for thinking and prayer. This week, we are thinking about our working together. Our bible verse this week says;
"So encourage each other to build each other up, just as you are already doing."
1 Thessalonians 5:11, Living Bible

Key Stage 2 Production of Hoodwinked
All the Key Stage 2 children (Years 3-6) will be performing their show on Monday 17th July at 6pm and Tuesday 18th July at 1:30 and 6pm. Don't forget to order your tickets well in advance using the letter which was emailed out this week. KS1 children will watch the dress rehearsal on the Monday.

Piano Concert
Well done to all the children who performed their piano pieces on Monday afternoon. We are very proud of their performance and dedication to learning. I am sure that other children now aspire to play piano themselves.

Transfer Day- Thursday 6th July
All the classes will move up to their next class on the above date. We look forward to a fun packed morning. Those children who are not attending Sturminster Newton High School must still attend school on that day.

Cricket Women's World Cup 2017 Competition
As some of you night be aware, this summer, England is hosting the Women's Cricket World Cup. The School has got tickets for two of the matches taking place at the Taunton ground in Somerset. We only have 60 tickets per match (30 children and 30 adults) and so we are having a competition to win them. There is an entry form attached, one side suitable for KS1 children and the other side suitable for KS2 children. Good luck!

Goodbye and Good Luck
Mr James Hunt will be leaving us next week. He has been teaching in Year 6 during his PGCE training. He has been an excellent member of staff on our team and we all wish him well as he moves to Spetisbury Primary School.

Kind regards
Sarah Lafferty-Jenkins
Headteacher
