21st March 2011
Here's a few notes and some information to take us to the end of term and into the first weeks after Easter.
Hurrah! All the building works on site are now finished. The new disabled toilet/care room and disabled lift are all ready for use, we have all of our playground back and we can enter the buildings as we always used to.
We have new carpets in both corridors and the area outside reception and we're hoping that children will always remember to wipe their feet when they come in so the newness doesn't fade too soon.
World Poetry Day
Today has been World Poetry Day. We have filmed some poetry reading from each class and hope to produce a DVD for sale sometime soon.
Website Video Diaries
Ever asked your child what they've done at school this week? I'm sure we know the standard response. Well if you want to find out if the children did more than 'nothing' then go onto our website where we will post some video diaries. The first one will be on the site next Monday.
Year 6 have organised a Bingo night to help raise funds for their residential trip in the summer term. The bingo will take place at the village hall on Wednesday 30th March, doors open 6.30pm for eyes down at 7.30pm.
Our Easter Service will be at 9.10am on Thursday 7th April. We welcome all members of the community to join us.
A big thanks to the PTA
The PTA are working really hard on organising and running events to raise funds for the school. I'd like to thank all that have contributed their time and efforts. Attached to this newsletter is a PTA one keeping you informed of future events.
Wood Chip Day
Our older outdoor play equipment area needs a top up of woodchip. It's surprising how much you need to fill it up. We've ordered 35 cubic metres of woodchip that will arrive on a big lorry on Thursday 7th April. It will be dumped in a big pile and then we need to move it onto the area. We've decided that this would be a good whole school activity for the last day of term. We would like all children to come into school on Friday 8th April dressed in clothes that they (you!) don't mind getting a bit dirty. We will timetable each class to move woodchip from the pile to the area. We will get in some wheelbarrows and spades (if you have some to lend us for the day we would appreciate it) and if children would like to bring in their own beach bucket and spade on that day (please label them) then we'll get the pile moved in no time. If your child has allergies that prevents them from joining in this activity please let the class teacher know.
School then finishes at 2.30pm. If the work is not done by then we hope some children might like to stay on to 3.15pm to help finish the job.
Mrs Smith would love to have any old pure wool clothing to use for an art activity. Please pop any pieces into the school office.
