SUMMER TERM (2nd HALF) NEWSLETTER
Here's some new information and all the dates for this last term of the academic year 2012/13.
We are delighted to have recruited an excellent replacement for Mr McAney as deputy headteacher. Miss Sarah Lafferty will take up post in September. Miss Lafferty is currently deputy head at The Dunbury Primary School.
Academic Year 2012/13
There are a few changes for next year. Class teachers will be as follows:
Year R - Mrs Brown
Year 1 - Miss Lafferty
Year 2 - Mrs Walker/Mr Lewis
Year 3 - Mrs Cuff/Mrs Padfield
Year 4 - Miss Gould
Year 5 - Mrs Saville/Mrs Padfield
Year 6 - Miss Swaine
Year 1 will be taught in the current Year 2 classroom - over the summer we will create a safe play area outside the conservatory to allow much more active learning for Year 1 children. We will ensure that all children have time with their new teachers this term to get to know each other.
Our PTA school fete is on a sunny Saturday 22nd June from 2pm onwards. There's lots for everyone to enjoy - we hope to see you there!
Staff in School Training Day - Monday 8th July
A reminder that on the above date the school is closed for children.
On Wednesday 26th June we have some students from the Gryphon School coming to help us with sprucing up our outside areas, Miss Elsworth will keep them busy and would welcome any extra hands from parents or relatives to help with gardening, fence paintings etc. We could always do with some extra help. Could you spare an hour or two? Just turn up anytime from 9-12, 1-3 and we'll hand you a brush, trowel and definitely a cup of tea!
Sports Day - Thursday 27th June
Everything starts at 1.15pm. Your child has been assigned a house team (red - Corfe, yellow - Maiden, green - Lulworth, blue - Sherborne). We'd love competing children, if possible, to wear a t-shirt sporting their team colour and we'd like parents and relatives attending sports day to support a team too by wearing colours, waving flags, bringing mascots etc. You may even like to paint your face! All children will compete in sports events and then there will be sprints and relays on the track before our Olympic style presentation ceremony! If we are unlucky with the weather we will make a decision by 11.30am and text out to you.
Whole School Trip
A reminder that we are off on our whole school trip to Bristol on the 28th June. It's a normal start time but there will be no Wake 'n' Shake. Children should go straight into class where they will be registered and then we will leave on coaches as near to 9am as possible. We aim to be back by 5pm. We will text out any return delays as we know of them.
The whole school would like to say well done and a massive thank you to Iain Lomas-Walker for the completion of his John O' Groats to Lands End cycle ride. Iain has raised lots of money for the swimming pool refurbishment finish - Here's Iain's email to us:
Well my legs have recovered after completing our challenge of cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End in 10 days.
All in all we covered 897 miles and did 49,000 ft of climbing, which is 1.7 x the height of Everest. Our route took us over the Kirkstone Pass in The Lakes and then through Devon and Cornwall, where absolutely nothing is flat. If you are not going up, you are going back down fast with no time to recover before going back up again. I'm not sure quite how we managed it, but we did the entire 897 without having to get off and walk up any of the hills, even when we had three 20% plus climbs in a row in Devon.
Thanks to my lovely sister in law (Anna) and father in law (Malcolm) for coming along and providing us with moral, medical and nutritional support every step of the way - I'm not sure we could have done it without you two. I hope you have now recovered from our moans, groans and distasteful humour.
Paul has raised in excess of £1000 for the Alzheimer Society which is great news, and thanks to all of you, the head of the PTA (Jaine) and the teachers and pupils at Stalbridge Primary, we have now raised well over £1000 as well. We are hoping the final figure will be around £1.4k.
Thank you all for your very generous sponsorship. Most of you have already given me money or cheques but I still need to collect from a few people so I'll be in touch.

All years are now having swimming lessons. Please could you ensure that children have their swimming things on the right day and let us know if they are not able to go swimming - we won't be able to make phone calls if kit is forgotten.
Swimming pool hire - we are hoping to hire our swimming pool out over the summer and are finalising details of how this will work, look out soon for a letter.
Breakfast Club/After School Club
A reminder of prices for breakfast club this term are:
8-8.50am £3 per session or £12 for the week
8.25-8.50am £1 per session or £4 for the week
A reminder of prices for after school club:
4-5.15pm £3.50 (if after a school run club)
Unfortunately we will not be able to give refunds if for some reason your child misses a session.
Hot School Meals
Local Foodlinks online ordering will shortly be up and running, details to follow. In the meantime, Local Food Links are holding a taster session on Wednesday 3rd July from 3pm for our new entrants but would welcome any parents who are considering hot school meals for their child in the new academic year. If you have any questions regarding the new on line system they should be able to help.
From September we are moving to sending out all correspondence by email and posting on our website. In exceptional circumstances we will produce paper copies and you will always be able to request a paper copy from the office. We therefore need your email addresses. You can give these to us most simply be emailing a hello to this email address email@example.com
. If you put 'email details' as the subject header then your address will be saved to our system automatically. Don't forget to say who you are and your child's name on your hello email as I know that sometimes an email address bears no resemblance to your actual name (we'd be stuck working out who firstname.lastname@example.org
Non-Urgent Messages for the Office
