SUMMER TERM (2nd HALF) NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone! We all have had a fantastic start to this term with our successful trip to Weymouth - the sun shone and everyone smiled - see all the pictures on our website soon.
Here's some new information and all the dates for this last term of the academic year 2012/13.
This term all classes have as their learning theme 'the Olympics'. We hope to create excitement about the games and memories that will last to the next British Olympics.
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week children in all years will be having Arts Days. Classes will be taught for the whole day by someone other than their class teacher and concentrate on an arts project. Please ask your child after Wednesday and Thursday what they have been up to. We have an assembly on Friday morning (9.10am) to show the children's work and you are most welcome to come in for this and see the displays and have a tea or coffee.
On Wednesday 27th June we have some students from the Gryphon School coming to us to help us continue our mural painting programme. Last year when students came they joined Mr Fieldhouse and Mrs Ellis and painted the lovely jungle scenes on our mobile classrooms. We're going to make a start on an indoor mural this time. We could always do with some extra help. Could you spare an hour or two? Just turn up anytime from 9-12, 1-3 and we'll hand you a brush.
Non Uniform Day
There will be a non school uniform day on Friday 29th June in return for donations for the fete. Specific details to follow from the PTA and class teachers.
We are planning an Olympic writing morning for children and parents on Thursday 5thJuly. More details will follow shortly.
Our PTA school fete is on a sunny Saturday 7th July from 2pm onwards. There's lots for everyone to enjoy - we hope to see you there!
Staff in School Training Day - Monday 9th July
A reminder that on the above date the school is closed for children.
Sports Day - Thursday 12th July
Everything starts at 1.15pm. Your child has been assigned a house team (red - Corfe, yellow - Maiden, green - Lulworth, blue - Sherborne). We'd love competing children, if possible, to wear a t-shirt sporting their team colour and we'd like parents and relatives attending sports day to support a team too by wearing colours, waving flags, bringing mascots etc. You may even like to paint your face! There will be a special Olympic feel to sports day this year. All children will compete in sports events and then there will be sprints and relays on the track before our Olympic style presentation ceremony! If we are unlucky with the weather we will make a decision by 11.30am and text out to you. Our reserve day is Tuesday 17th 1.15pm start.
All years are now having swimming lessons. Please could you ensure that children have their swimming things on the right day and let us know if they are not able to go swimming - we won't be able to make phone calls if kit is forgotten.
A reminder of prices for breakfast club this term are:
8-8.50am £3 per session or £12 for the week
8.25-8.50am £1 per session or £4 for the week
Unfortunately we will not be able to give refunds if for some reason your child misses a morning.
Tesco and Sainsbury Tokens
Thank you for collecting tokens. Our Tesco total has been phenomenal - over 13,500 collected. The Tesco vouchers will be used to purchase a range of resources for curriculum areas. Sainsbury vouchers will be used to purchase sports and play equipment.
Hot School Meals
Our contract with Cygnet Catering comes to an end at the end of this term. We have arranged a new contract with Local Foodlinks (www.localfoodlinks.org.uk
) for supply of hot school meals. The ordering process will change and we will let you know about this as soon as we have the information. Local Foodlinks will be offering a taster session on Thursday 28th June, 3.15pm in the school hall.
