14th February 2014
We're coming to the end of another half term. The time since Christmas seems to have flown by!
We bid farewell to Mrs Sam Smith today who has chosen to begin a new job after half term as a teaching assistant with Templecombe Primary School.
We have appointed Mrs Becca Strawbridge as a Teaching Assistant to ensure the same amount of support is available for the children going forward as there has been for the beginning of this academic year.
A few small changes to the classes that teachers teach in has been necessary.
From after half term Mrs Cuff will teach Year 1 on a Wednesday morning and Mrs Padfield will teach all day Wednesday in Year 3. Mr Allen will teach Tuesday afternoons and all day Wednesday in Year 5. We have informed children of these changes today.
We would like to thank everyone who came along to our Jigsaw sale on Wednesday afternoon. The children were very excited to share all their garden objects and share their own 'dreams and goals'. We are very pleased to say that we raised over £164 which will go towards Cancer Research. The children are proud that this money will make a difference to the hopes and dreams of others.
We hope you found our parent/teacher meetings useful. We set out to make these meetings more precise in informing you where your child is in their learning relative to others of their age, where we have targeted them to be at the end of this academic year and what that looks like in terms of what we expect them to be consistently showing in their work.
There is a short questionnaire with this letter. Please complete this and return either by email or hard copy to the office. Your feedback will let us know whether we fulfilled our aims and give us ways of improving the parent/teacher meetings further.
World Book Day
On the Thursday 6th March it's World Book Day. We're going to have a dressing up day with a book character theme. More details will follow after half term.
School start time is 8.55am when we Wake 'n' Shake. The weather has been horrible on many mornings this term and we haven't been able to shake our stuff. On these mornings I know many of you will congregate with your children under the shelter between Year 3 and 4 until the teachers arrive back from the staff briefing meeting we hold every morning. When it's really bad we don't mind if you take your children into their classrooms but please you must stay to supervise them until the teacher arrives. Use it as an opportunity to do a bit more reading with your child.
Individual Class Information
Please check other texts/emails and the classes section of our website for new information for your child's class.
We wish everyone a good half term break and hope the weather when we return is more Spring-like!
Mr M Allen
