Sporting News
Good luck to our football team, who will play their first Davison cup match on Monday at
St Nicholas Primary School.

Remembrance Day Parade
We will all be attending the town (opposite the post office) next Friday to mark Remembrance Day with the local community and church. We leave school at 10.45 and walk up together to pay our respects. Please do join us.

Parent Academy Meeting
Just a reminder that we have our Academy consultation meeting on Monday 7th November 7pm. This is held at Sturminster Newton High School. Please do come along to our consultation where you will be provided with information and an opportunity for questions to be answered.

PTA DISCO
We hope to see lots of you back in school for our disco. Please remember that we have a 'no heels policy', to protect our hall floor. The children shouldn't bring any mobile phones or anything like that with them. Many thanks to the PTA for organising this popular event.

School Photos Friday 11th November 2016
Don't forget that it is school photos day on the above date. Family photos are on Saturday 12th November and need to be booked with the office prior to the day.

Anti-Bullying Week 14th - 18th November 2016
We will all be taking part in Anti- bullying week. The theme for this year's event is 'The power for Good'. The children will learn to identify what bullying is and understand what to do if they see it or experience it. We will review our school rules, which keep us safe, and work with the school council to review our anti- bullying policy.

Children in Need Day- Friday 18th November 2016
The school council are keen to participate in this year's Children in Need day. Children are asked to come dressed in spots and donate £1 to this charity.

Love to Read
We are encouraging everyone to get reading this term. All the classes have a class reader on the go and the BBC is holding special events this weekend too. There are lots of resources online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2016/love-to-read#heading-lovetoread-weekend

Here's what we are reading at the moment.
Year R - Our favourite stories
Year 1 - Space information books
Year 2 - George's Marvellous Medicine
Year 3 - Stig of the Dump
Year 4 - The Boy in the Dress
Year 5 - The Little Prince
Year 6 - Wolf Brother

Road Safety Week beginning 21st November 2016
We are all looking forward to learning about Road Safety on the above date. Visitors will come into school to help us learn. This year the theme is 'make the pledge' encouraging all drivers to slow down and show more awareness. More information can be found at http://www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk/

Bedtime Stories Thursday 24th November 2016 6pm- 7pm
We are holding our bedtime stories event in a few weeks. We hope to hold one in March next year, too. A letter will follow, providing all the details you need.

Keeping warm
The weather has changed. Please make sure that your child has a warm coat with them every day. Please also check that they have warm kit for outdoor PE.

Staff News
You may already be aware that Mrs Franklin is expecting a baby. We offer her our congratulations. I will be making arrangements shortly to provide maternity cover for Year 6. I will keep you well informed and am happy to talk to you about this.

That's all for this week!

Kind regards
