27th March 2012
The weather has been lovely and thoughts can turn to holidays and summer term.
Here's some new dates and information for this last week of term, the holidays and into the new term.
Mrs Saville and Mrs Johnson
Mrs Saville is leaving on maternity on Friday. We wish her well. Mrs Johnson will be joining us to teach in Year 2 and be our Literacy Leader of Learning.
Outdoor Play Equipment
The older outdoor play equipment has an unsafe section and therefore we have not had children playing on it for the last few weeks. We will be making everything safe during the Easter holidays and children will then be allowed to go back on it.
Playing after School
At the end of the school day many children come on to the playground to meet you and then go and play on the outdoor play equipment and on the field. I am happy for this to happen if children are supervised by parents. The school will take no responsibility for accidents whilst using the equipment and grounds outside of school hours.
I've asked children not to play ball games on the playground before and after school as there is a risk of accidents with everyone around. Please ensure your children remember this.
Tidy up Days
Last Easter our PTA and willing helpers came into school and did all those jobs that after a hard winter needed doing to make the school grounds look lovely. They are willing to do the same this time. Jobs will involve tidying around the school grounds, eg sanding/painting tables/fences; cleaning play equipment; tidying environmental area; gardening and planting flowers; cleaning and painting the pool area. If you would be willing to help on either Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, Saturday 14th or Sunday 15th April (even if only for an hour we would be grateful for all the help we can get), please leave a message with the school office or just turn up on the day after 10am! Children may play on the field while adults work!
Easter Egg hunt
The PTA are holding an Easter Egg hunt after school on Thursday from 3.15pm. Children can join the hunt for £1 this will include a drink and an Easter treat. Teas and coffees will be available for adults. Please support this event and perhaps have a chat with PTA members about any help you can give for the tidy up days or future events.
With the weather being so good at the moment Mr Fieldhouse would like to get on with the painting of the pool. Are you able to help him this Thursday or Friday? We would like to start swimming lessons soon after Easter and getting this big job done early will enable us to re-fill the pool and start heating it. Thank you.
New Gates and Fencing
I'm sure you've noticed our new gates. The car park is now enclosed and children cannot go through the car park without adult supervision during the school day. We have made the carpark a 'vehicle no-movement' zone between 8.30 and 9.15 and 3pm and 3.30pm. This has significantly reduced the risk of accidents. Moving around the school for children is now very safe. I appreciate that the gates make it a little more difficult for parents/carers before and after school. If possible if everyone could use the bottom playground gate to come and go then no one need use the car park as a thoroughfare.
It's been a very good term - all children have worked really well and they and the staff have earned their break.
Have a great Easter.
