Year 6 Plastic Pollution Challenge
As part of our global partnership project, our year 6 children have been exploring ways to reduce the pollution that plastic bags create. They have identified the damage which carrier bags cause as well as considering better options. Rueben, Bethany, Erin and Jasmine visited the local shops in Stalbridge today. We have lots of ideas in mind about Bags for Life and recycling. All our learning will be shared with our partner school in Islamabad.
Well done to our Boccia team, who represented the school well on Thursday. Well done to our orienteering teams, who achieved many high scores during the Orienteering final on Tuesday. We are looking forward to netball, swimming and football in the coming weeks.
Parent / Grandparent Helpers
We always welcome volunteers into school to support the children. If you have an hour or two a week and feel that you could support our activities, we would be keen to hear from you.
Local Authority SEND Inspection
We have been notified that the Local Authority will be inspected for its SEND provision. An important letter is attached for your information.
PE Kit and School Uniform
I must remind you that our school uniform includes those items worn for PE. Please can you check that your child has the correct items?
Children must wear
- White school logo t-shirt
- Black shorts or black jogging bottoms. Leggings are not suitable.
- A black school logo PE top is also needed at this time of year.
- Long hair needs to be tied back during the day and for sports.
- Trainers must be suitable sports trainers
If you have any difficulties with uniform, you should speak to your class teacher. We may be able to help you.
A little while ago, the children requested role play resources for play times. We would like to renew our role play resources. Would you be able to donate any of these items? If so, please let the office know;
- Keyboards (computer)
- Old telephones
- Kitchen kits
- Old saucepans and wooden spoons/ utensils
- Chalk boards
We are also asking for donations for the animal explorers areas. We need any old logs which we can use to build animal homes.
Encouraging Regular Reading
We are focusing on reading as a school development priority this year. All our classes will be off to the local library to find out what can be borrowed and to enjoy a story. The school council will be organising a book swap too.
The school continues to focus on the Christian value 'Hope'. We welcome Reverend Ian Carr on Monday to lead our collective worship. We will also be attending church on Thursday, do come along and join us if you can.
That's all our news for this week.
